Hello everyone,

My boyfriend and I have been working for a year with a temporay work permit in Canada.

He has the Health Card because his work permit specifies the name of the employee, but my work permit doesn't. So, for this reason I do not qualify for The Health Coverage in Ontario.

However, considering that I have a full time job, I do qualify for the benefits at work. So my question is: Can I get a health card now?

Thank you

Ontario Health plan is not really connected to your benefits from work.  You can have supplimentary medical insurance through work without having OHIP.

Can you explain your situation to immigration and ask them if they can put your employers name into your work permit?  Or explain your situation to OHIP and ask them how to work this out?  I am sure there are other people in exactly the same situation.
