HEAD OF IT - NOC 0213 => TOTAL EXPERIENCE & JOB TITLE QUESTION

Hello Friends,

Just two quick question

1> Is "HEAD OF IT" is considered under NOC 0213 ?

2> I jointed my present employer in April 2004 as "IT Manager" and then got promoted as "HEAD OF IT" in 2006 and working until today as "HEAD OF IT" - Total 5.5 years of experience in same company, is it enough an experience to show ?

Like I told you before, the job title is not important, the job duties are.  Your employer could refer to your occupation as "Head Elf" or "Head Vampire" but if your job duties match 0213, you'd qualify.  Likewise, if your job title is "Computer and Information Systems Manager" but your job duties don't match 0213, then you don't qualify.

Thanks Leon. The forum actually confused me thus that posting.

How about the experience? I am in the similar role for past 5.5 year and before IT Manager for 2 years and before that 5 years as VP - IT.

I guess they look at recent experience in current job??

On page 4:

If you meet the criteria in one of the categories below, your application will be placed into processing if...
1
you have at least one year of continuous full time or equivalent paid work experience in the last ten years in one or more of the occupational categories identified in the Ministerial Instructions.

This means that if you have one or more years experience under NOC 0213 in the last 10 years, you can apply under category 1.

On page 12:

You will earn points for the number of years you have spent in full-time (37.5 hours per week), paid work.
..
Your work experience must be in an occupation of Skill Type 0, or Skill Level A or B

That means that you will be granted points for skilled work experience in the last 10 years.  However, you reach maximum points with 4 years experience so you do not gain any more points if you have more than that.

Hi Chouhan,
I have already sent full application package to my visa office after the assessment from Canada mentioning Job tile as "Head of MIS Dept" and in description i mentioned the duties as Manager,MIS. Now my applications status is "IN PROCESS". Hope that your job title will not creat any problem. Just go on...
