Has anyone entered CA from US under NAFTA program?

I am curious about others experiences entering Canada as a US citizen under the NAFTA requirements where you have your job offer in hand and supportin documenting and applying for initial work permit at the border/time of entry.  As I understand it, no sponsorship is required.  Has anyone went into Canada this way and then after being there applied for PR?  It sounds pretty straight forward, but I was just wondering what to expect if we decide to take this route.  Thanks!
