Whatever stories we have heard about the difficulties in finding jobs are from the people who migrated to Canada from nations other than the US. The SRS H1B candidates are the ones who will have US experience. I am optimistic that it would be a plus point. We have US experience and that should have a little more weightage.

I agree...! The american experience having more wightage.... and I think many of us on this forum also have American degrees as well...  Canadian degree shouldn't score much more than a US degree with US experience in Alberta Job Market... don't u think??

 Is US degree (Master or Doctor) is recognized in Canada? I have a master degree in a good US university. Do I need to sit for a canadian degree?

I think you should be good. The people who are sharing their experience of having difficulty in securing a job are mostly the ones who came from the countries where English language is not commonly used. (No offense here). Degrees alone cannot get job. It is not a problem with the degrees of other countries, it's the way people present and communicate their skills. Ability to understand spoken English and ability to speak English which can be understood

Every one who came to first world countries took a while to adjust to the language, culture before they became a perfect fit. Most of the people who move out of their home town for the first time, find it a little different in terms of their language skills and self confidence. I too have faced that problem 10 years ago.

Now the plus point of already having lived in the US, we will not have to go through that gap again. And that is the factor which stands out for the folks applying through SRS H1B AINP.

That is a big question to ask.  Is your profession regulated, like engineering etc.?  If yes, then you need to get licensed.  You may need to take exams, you would not need to re-do your whole degree.  If it's not regulated, then yes, it is recognized but at which value depends on the employer.  One employer who happens to know that is a good US university might hold your degree highly while another employer who never heard of it might prefer to hire somebody with a Canadian degree.

Even people from some places in the US and the UK need to work on their accent.  If you have a strong accent, people will not understand you.  If people can not understand you, you will not do well in job interviews.  I read a post from an American woman who was from the South say that she had problems in Canada when she first came because people did not understand her.

Tell me about it, when I came to live in Georgia I didn't understand a thing to the local people, mostly africanamericans, now is different but I have been here for almost 9 years,  LOL  :-)

Exactly this applies to everybody whether US, Uk or 3rd world countries. But I emphasized 3rd World Countries because Amount of Frustration after not getting good professional job, is higher in these folks than those who are from US, UK and rest part of world. You will hardly find a Son of Blonde posting these type posts on website like notcanada.com. Mostly these are orientals/browns or asian/Middle eastern/south asian.
Because these folks are extremely ambitious, they don't take life easily, have highest amount of competitive feeling which eventually converts into the frustration and jealousy. That's why if they are happy rest of world will be automatically happy. These folks immediately wanna be on the top of mountain without genuine hardwork. Thier professional ethics are also inferior which they name it like "smartness"

These are not comments, this is the reality and the term is absolutely Non-Offending. It is your colonial blood which forced you to think that the term "3rd world" is offending. After all it has been only 50-60 years since British left you. If somebody is from african countries like Yuganda, Rwanda and Brundi where US Helicopters drop Food packets, Bread for them, and they jump on that food packets like animals and sometime they also have Gangwar regarding those food packets with Guns then they can not and should not find think that "Inferior"/"Below poverty line" or "Dying with Hunger" type titles are offending. because that is truth
