If you sent your package to AB, then you dont get any confirmation mail. You should hopefully get your file number in maybe 2 months (tho many of us have not yet rcvd).

40 to 60 days to get File Number and then if approved 50-60 days to get Certificate.
Remember 40 working days = 2 months (M-F 5 days only) so upto 3 months to get file number and further upto 3 months to get Certificate.

According to the new rule you have to be on H1b till you are nominated. After that i think you can change your status if you want to be in USA or else you can apply to CIC from your home country. For more details call the hotline

Friends..
I think it's just about patience...
they are processing as they promised in time (just that someone's applications are processing sooner)...

it's better not to interrupt them and wait for them to be processed...

neways, glad to know your applications are all moving...

good luck and god bless...

My guess is...they are processing the pre assessed application (old process) first or atleast sending the file number only to those in old process though file number may be allotted to others also. Kind of trying to follow FIFO. If we look at those who got file number lately are pre assessed and they had started their process in Nov/Dec 2008.

Here is the few time lines

This is my time line
11/26/08 - E-mailed docs for pre-assessment
11/26/08 - Received confirmation e-mail
12/16/08 - Received invitation to apply
12/24/08 - Mailed app. package to AINP
12/31/08 - AINP received app. package (UPS confirmation)
02/20/09 - Received file number (587)

PNP Alberta Office received my application............. December 31st 2008 (USPS Tracking)
File # received.................................................. February 20th 2009
File # ending with.............................................. xxxx-xx-0593

Preassesement completed-11/7/08
Invitation sent- 11/7/08
Application with documents posted to Alberta- 12/16/08
Confirmation of docs recd-1/14/09
File # recd- 2/11/09
My file # is XXXX-XX-X655

You can see the gap in last 3 digits of file number. Assuming that is running serial number, there may be others who are allotted file numbers but not notified yet. May be they are from new process.

So hang in there guys. We will get our turn.

Thanks
