For all other categories they are using the " Up to" but for H1B they are saying " at least". It means they got sick of H1B callers.

Most people won't have job offers in this economy in alberta. I think they are delaying the nominations and if one doesn't have PR it is very difficult to find a job in canada.

Hi I applied on May19th and got this in the email some minutes back
AINP Update: U.S. Visa Holder Category
If you are the recipient of this email, Alberta Employment and Immigration has received your application under the AINP U.S. Visa Holder Category.
What does this mean? We have your application and it is in the queue to be processed. We have experienced a higher than expected volume of applications in the US Visa Holder Category. Because of this, priority will be given to applicants who have a valid job offer from an Alberta employer. All eligible applications will be processed, although processing times will vary significantly depending on the volume of applications received. In some cases, it may be at least 12 months before processing commences on an application. Please do not contact the Immigrate to Alberta Information Service regarding your application status. This e-mail is confirmation that your application has been received and will be processed. You will be contacted if further information is required to complete the assessment and/or when a final decision has been made on your application.
great to know we are in the queue at least eh !!!
my NOC is 2174

One more email as usual. One more stretch in timeline as usual. One more non-promise as usual. One more posting in this thread as usual. some more replies as usual. Endless wait as usual.
I too received this email today.
================================================================= From: Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program <immigration.info @ gov.ab.ca> subject AINP Applicants: U.S. Visa Holder Category
AINP Update: U.S. Visa Holder Category
If you are the recipient of this email, Alberta Employment and Immigration has received your application under the AINP U.S. Visa Holder Category.

You will be contacted if further information is required to complete the assessment and/or when a final decision has been made on your application. If you have a job offer that you did not include with your application, please send a copy of your job offer and job description to immigration.info @ gov.ab.ca with a subject line of "US Visa Holder Category Job Offer". If you received your file number from the AINP make sure you include your file number in the email.
Proof of a job offer can be your contract or letter of employment from an Alberta employer for full-time employment within the province of Alberta. The job offer must be in a field related to your current occupation in the US. The document must be on the official letterhead of the Alberta employer you will be working for. Alberta Employer must be incorporated or registered by or under an act of the legislature of a province or the Parliament of Canada and operating as a business that has an established production capability, plant, or place of business in Alberta. If your profession is regulated contact the appropriate Alberta regulatory body to begin the process.
If you don't have a job offer, your application will remain in the queue to be processed. In some cases it may be at least 12 months before processing commences on an application. We encourage those who do not have a job offer to start exploring job opportunities within the Province of Alberta. Refer to the links below in your job search. ==========================================================================

Because H1B deserves more for their high skills, for their hard work, and for their innocence.

Waiting n hoping for the day when we will see a rain of nominations ! All the best to all of us.
If you just change the letter 'r' to 'p' in the word 'rain', then we are already there.

The thing I don' tunderstand is why do they keep the program still open if they r getting "higher than expected volume of applications in the US Visa Holder Category".
they r saying won't touch the applications for 1 yr because they know majority of applicants would be out of status by that time
*censored word*ing rip off make rich scheme by canadian government
SHAME ON THEM

Probably AINP should change the timeline for H1B stream to infinity. That way they don't have to spend $$$ for sending emails and updating websites. And we don't have to spend time waiting for their action.
After seeing all the file number received message from fellow forum members, I was expecting file number and opened the email from AINP. In fact I didn't bother to read anything and straight away started scanning for file number in the text. When I couldn't find any text in file number format, I started reading the text....and boom. I was so optimistic till the minute before receiving that email.
I wonder how much more stupid a system could work. AINP/Alberta government should understand that we are capable individuals and NOT beggars. We wanted to come there to contribute to the land of Alberta. Definitely we will contribute more than what we would take.
Hey AINP, you are asking for job offer. This shows your decision was made bureaucratically. If you had discussed this with any CEO/HR of a business firm they would have told you that no one would want to hire a person without meeting face-to-face. Instead of simply asking for job offer, you please issue a temp visa for 3 months; then we can go and really search for a job. Or at least advice your business organization to respond for the resume submission and reply with proper reason for rejection. We will forward all the rejection emails to you for review.
Hey AINP, before sending another email or before changing your timeline, please publish the due diligence that was done by AINP before rolling out this H1B stream. What study you conducted about worker shortage in Alberta? What is availability/supply of H1B workers? What made you to consider H1B? Why not L1B or other visa categories?
This change in timeline seriously made me to doubt the Alberta government's projection of hundreds of thousands of worker shortage in next decade. If the studies are true, how Alberta is going to meet the labor needs in coming days without allowing immigrants?
Just ask us to pay a premium processing fee to expedite the application. We would gladly do that and you can hire more officers to process our application faster. This would add to Alberta's economy from today itself.
