If this is your first time dealing with CIC you will not have a client identification number or UCI .Type your universal client identification number (UCI) or client identification number, if known. Otherwise, leave it blank.

i have applied for FSW in 2006 and my case was rejected in 2009 ,at that time they gave me FILE NUMBER, so is the file number same as UCI, i left it blank when i reapplied again lately.....although i mentioned it in the background declaration form......but not in the UCI box.............becuz at that time they refered to it as FILE NUMBER....!!

Ramzy, IMM file number is different. If you don't have a UCI number or Client ID number, according CIC,  you can leave the respective column blank. It is only applicable to those who have that number. Otherwise the file number is enough.

UCI is different. It will deal with all the immigration issues in Canada.

There are other file numbers given for each case. Example E number is given for PR.
