lovely20,..me dont get lots of money (25,000) but my husband (100,000 more) a yr and no child....in my part can i still file for my gst/hst?...tnx again...
GST/HST if you are married are computed as family income. So even if you are only earning 25,000 a year your husband's salary is taken into consideration also. GST/HST credit is for families who are in the low income bracket, so that means that you are not eligible to receive it.

call CRA 1-800-959-1953, and tell the agent you've never received GST/HST. if you are in ON and you didn't received OSTTB, call 1-877-627-6645.
Coz sometimes, they send a mail to us to ask for further information to determine the amount of GST/HST or OSTTB.
I got these kinds of the mails every year to ask for my husband's foreign income.
Hi there... Been a lurker for a few weeks on this site and decided to join... I did my sister's taxes for 2010...and checked off the application for gst credit. My sister is a caregiver here, with family back home, so I put married under marital status. She got an email a few weeks ago asking for her husband's income for 2010. Hubby is in the Philippines. In this case, what supporting documents is she required to send to CRA so that she can get the rebate? Thanks Chill

thanks for the prompt reply, so letter should indicate how much my brother in law made (would that be in pesos or in Canadian funds) and that he does not reside in Canada?

I never said singles don't get GST/HST. If you are single and earning a lot more, you are not entitled to get the GST/HST refund. Yes single and married get this but if you are married they combine your salaries, that's what I've been trying to tell her. She is only earning 25,000 CND (which should be low-income) but her husband earns 100,000 CND. The combined salary is 125,000 which is not eligible for GST/HST. About OSTB, the brackets are different that's why I attached the link for her to determine is they are going to get it or not. Please try to read things carefully next time before jumping into something and correcting somebody else.
