Was that really the sentence as written? Wow, not to be a big literary snob or anything but that is a dissapointingly-constructed sentence.

My closest book is actually unpaginated so I'm trying to decide where to start counting from.....also does the 5th sentence include the continuation of a sentence from page 17?  Tongue

i had a day off yesterday and absolutely nothing to do so I made a nice cup of tea and devoured the book!

Love this! Bought 9 books from my fave second hand book store the other day and they're still piled on the sofa.

Ok, top of the pile, here goes:

"Il avait essaye d'en rire avec elle, tapant du doigt sur son craine: <Toc Toc. Il y a quelqu'un chez Daisy? Il n'y a personne?>"  (I'm trying to practise my french with all this free time - thought buying a french book would help!)

Second in the pile, for non-francophones:

"But then, neither was he exactly as brilliant as a prince ought to be"... Wink

Planet of the apes?

Anonymous Rex.

It's part of a series of books where the premise is that dinosaurs are still around, only they walk around wearing human suits so that humans won't know that there are still dinosaurs. The main character is a detective dinosaur solving dinosaur crimes but the books tend to end up being dinosaur sex and drug scenes, mostly.

They're amazing books in the way that B-movie science fiction from the 70s is amazing.

"He sees the herd." ---- if I start counting pages from the beginning of the first chapter

"That Lama, now deceased, had been a good friend to the seeker who said to the boy, "You are the reincarnation of the Dalai Lama," and he went about the process of tukulu, for the boy did show, in fact he was the reincarnation of the Dalai Lama." -- if I start counting pages from the beginning of the book

Kinda dissappointed in the book

The leftovers from breakfast are scattered across the table with a jar of blackcurrant jam on its side staining the tablecloth; someone must have spilt some of the jam on the floor.
