Hmn, I like that. Where from, please  Smiley

The book is called The Earth Hums in B Flat by Mari Strachnan. I really enjoyed it. I think you will too. It's about a young girl in Wales who tries to find out where & why a neighbor goes missing and grow up at the same time.

Looked it up on Goodreads. Seems somewhat reminiscent of Amelie, no?

Bah, no.  Between Goodreads and FridayReads it's amazing how many book giveaways I've entered and never won.  Sad LOL.

"As she grew, she came to imitate the virtues of her mother and determined, after a vision of Christ crucified, to enter St Maria di Basico, a convent of the Poor Clares."

From Butler's Lives of the Saints

B flat was always my favorite note to play. Does the note have any actual relevance in the book?

I'm not too sure. Never read Amelie so maybe I'll put that on my To Read list.

It does in a very indirect way. The girl has a vivid imagination but is very intuitive so I think it has something to do with that. But I won't tell more so I don't spoil it for anyone.

"Do you think that this is the sort of radiation that's been escaping and affecting the beasts?" asked Alexandra.

This is from a book I just started reading called The Red Queen.

Our lady herself had a boy, of course, which was what everyone wanted, and so became Our Lady Queen of Heaven and could sign her name Mary Regina: Mary R.
