I was wondering if someone could clarify something for me.  I was sponsored by my wife recently and I will be recieving my permanant resident card soon. I have read that permanent residents have pretty much the same rights as Canadian citizens except they cannot vote, run for goverment positions or work for the goverment.  But it does not state whether this is the Federal Goverment or Provincial. My wife told me that someone she knew who is permanant resident could not work for the Federal goverment but found employment in the provincial goverment. Is this true?  Any info would be of great help.

Being Permanent Resident you are eligible to apply for the Provincial Government jobs only.
After becoming Canadian citizen you can apply for the federal Governments jobs.

Thank-you very much. This information was very hard to find anywhere as it doesn't really differentiate on which goverment jobs.
