Hi everybody
Can anyone assist me with my situation. I have PR of Canada in 2013 and my card will expire late next year. I'm out of Canada now but planning to enter within the next few days. Can I be allowed in?
Can CIC count the time I stay in Canada even outside the 5 years validity period of my PR? Can I stayed in Canada beyond my PR expiring date to meet my RO

Your PR card is still valid assume until end 2018 so no issue either boarding a plane or entering Canada given as a PR you are entitled to enter.

Depending on how much time you have spent in Canada since 2013 it is possible you get reported on entry for failing the RO starting the revoke process. However if that does not happen you should stay in the country for a minimum next 2 years without leaving and not apply to renew your PR card until after those 2 years.

PR cards expire PR status never expires and can only be revoked or renounced.

If I'm not mistaken, your RO "start date" was on the first day you landed. Do your calculations accordingly!

Thats correct PR residency obligation starts on the day of landing and not the day the PR card is issued which is usually weeks later as is the PR card expiry date which will be later than the 5 years post landing.

Thanks. Does it mean my residency obligation will start from the day I landed even if stay for more years to accumulate more residency oblig. Or it will be counted 5 years backward from the day I applied for renewal.

How will the immigration agent know if I have issue with RO or do they just ask routinely at the POE?
What is the chance that they may ask me about my RO when I want to enter especially with automated clearing at POE

I consider the other way around. The RO begins when you land, but the five years is calculated as of the point when you are assessed. They will look at previous 5 years (or available time backward, plus forward to make 5).

They will ask routinely, you could be selected for a random check, who knows.

Just be aware that as soon as you've been outside Canada 3 years since you did PR landing, you are in violation of the RO so if caught at the airport upon entry would start process to revoke your PR status.
