Hi,

I have done M.Sc. Economics Pakistan, MBA Finance Pakistan and MSC Economics and Finance Business School UK.

Applied on 0111 Financial Manager thru agent.  However, my agent today informed me that my case was refused on May 27 and he already filed appeal on my behalf.  According to refusal letter, he is not convinced with my experience as my job description does not match with category.  I am surprised as I have 100 percent same job description. However, I did not copy exactly every word from NOC category job requirement.

Now, please suggest? Should i re-apply. When? how i make them satisfied with my job description?

Do you have at least one year paid full time experience under the NOC Code 0111?

I have over 10 years total experience, including almost 2 years as an Investment Manager working in accounts and finance department.  Since I am working in Investment Company, they have given me such designation.  I did not just put every word of job description of "0111 Financial Manager" But to me it was very close.

In fact, this news is shocking as I prepared all my documents well before hand including police certificate. I just came to know about refusal 1 hour prior to my speaking test. I am working in Middle East and my contract expiring in January 2010.  Tomorrow is my IELTS exam and i am unable to give a minute since i saw refusal letter.  I am doing 100 percent same duties. What should i do? I have excellent track record but i guess its useless? I dont know what to do? What are the chances if i re-apply?

Hi,

I have applied under the same cat 0111. Kindly let me know what all duties you wrote when you sent the form to CIO? Did you attach extra sheet or anything also.

Secondly Your title says Investment Manager - NOC 0121, I know title does not matter, but if not a problem, kindly state exactly what all duties you mentioned there on the form and also if you attached any extra sheet.

I know its very disheartening.

geranimo,

Is this your initial application?

What do you mean by '100% similar job description & qualification'?  They are 100% similar in what way?  Almost word for word as listed in the NOC website?

I am also an accountant and would like to learn from this.  Anyway, you should concentrate now on your upcoming IELTS exam and don't lose heart.  You can still use the results of your exam when you re-apply or with whatever you plan to do with your case.  Best of luck to you!

Hi.  I am currently a Senior Accountant with almost 6 yrs experience in the NOC 1111 (Financial Auditors & Accountants)- 4.5 yrs as financial auditor and almost 2 yrs as accountant, in the  past 10 yrs.  I got an approval from Sydney, Nova Scotia last May 19.  I wrote my main duties in a way that would almost resemble those prescribed for the above NOC but in a more detailed manner.  I attached extra sheets of bond papers where I wrote my main duties, of course, with the corresponding NOC code, Job Title, period of employment, form no. and section being filled out.

Maybe that 100% similarity was the problem! I read on a CIC document that borrowed verbatim from NOC site should be regarded as self-recommendation!

But they have not mentioned that the reason is quoting verbatim duties from the NOC website they said that the  job description does not match with category as he stated in the first post, so that is not the reason

Yes, It was my initial application. I do perform role of both accounting and investment manager as my company invests in different asset classes.  I did not copy exact words from duties list on website rather changed it slightly with some technical language.

Please anyone suggest also provide some examples for those who rejected initially and then got thru after they reapplied.

How can one know what to put in experience letter? "word to word copy from NOC job description" or "tweaked version of NOC job description"?

My understanding is that the immigration staff who asses the immigration applications is not domain expert for all 38 categories.
If we put the tweaked version of NOC job description, then we can't expect the immigration officer to understand the terminology from a domain in question. Which is bad.
On the other hand, if we put word to word copy from NOC job description, then it will give an impression that we just copy pasted. This is bad as well.

What might be the best way to go?

The immigration officer is NOC specific and has full information about the job duties and responsibilities.
