Hello

I hope somebody can answer my following question thank you in advanced.

I had applied for my pr under the Canadian experience class in august 2011 my current post grad work permit expires feb 2012.

I just received my study permit for one year of study till march 2013 ( I had applied online within Canada) I though I would receive the temporary visa (since when I had applied for my study permit back home before coming here I got that too)

I now need to do back home before my classes start on jan 9th, how long does it take to get the visa if I applied now and can I work with my post graduate work permit till it expires in feb 25 or do I have to stop when I start college on jan 9th

Thank you

Hey, I am fairly new but have had my share of problems.

You should definitely call CIC and explain your situation and they will provide you with best solutions suited to your case.

If your work permit is valid till Feb 2012, you can stay till feb 2012. I am certain on that.

Is this a new study visa?? if you plan to study and stay on in Canada post expiration of your work visa - start studying and as you have the work permit you can continue working as well.

Hope these help!

Yes this a new study permit which is for the one year course from jan 2012 which I just received today.

But my current post graduate work permit expires feb 2012 so I'm not sure if I can work till feb 2012 even though I would have started classes in jan.

I will definitely call then tomorrow but I'm anxious lol

Just call them today. I am certain you can work and study till feb 2012. Then on you can only study and work on campus/off campus.

Best of luck!!!

Hi,

With the start of a new Study Permit, the OP actually lost his status on a running PGWP.

Here is the update

I spoke to the call centre agent and apparently I can work till the work permit expires even though I will be studying, I asked him thrice and he confirmed it.

So even though I start school in Jan I can work till feb end till my work permit expires, I am relieve now it gives me time to quit my jobs and other things.

I forgot to ask if I can apply for the off campus work permit now since its my second time any idea on that guys.

Thanks

Hi,

It's a very important question :-)

I am also wondering if it's required to wait again for 6 months before you apply/get a second off campus work permit.

I think off campus cannot be applied for - unfortunately. They need to confirm that you are in good academic standing. But no harm in asking. Just remember call CIC and ask them to send you emails of the info requested.

This way you will be protecting yourself from a mistake that you may make unintentionally.
