got my file number for canadian PR

HI folks,

I have got my file number for Canadian PR, my application was submitted on 21st June 2010 and i got my file number 4th nov 2010.

My consultant sent a mail that I got my first level approval from cic, ( he forwarded the same mail to me which contains some file number). and we will proceed further, for that he asked me to send Police clearance certificate, IELTS score card and Bank statement.

My question is:  what is first level approva? if I get that approval does it mean that CIC has approved my application ?  or it is just a initial approval or most of the part is confirmed?
when I check the status with the file number(starts with B) it is giving error, so am i going to get any other file number?\

and one more thing is that IELTS mandatory for canadian immigration to approve the second level or optional

please let me know.

Hi crazysun: Congratulations on making it over the first hurdle that you have met the basic requirements in your forms.  YES, IELTS has been mandatory since April 2010.  Once your complete documents are submitted to the Visa Office I think you can expect another number.  Documents will be reassessed, and you will be asked for medicals/landing fees/passport for stamping once everything checks out.  Good Luck.

I dont know about IELTS how tough it would be, if I score lesser than the eligibility, what happenes, they rejects my application?

First AOR from CIO is just the first hurdle. The main processing is done at Visa office

Yes you have got the approval and need to submit your docs for 2nd stage.

HI just want to ask what category did u apply? Im NBPNP nominee and base on my certification they already submitted my application to buffalo NY last june 2010 with complete document police clearance bank statement etc. but no Ielts I dont if we need to take also Ielts but some people say that if your PNP nominee no Iealts required but im confused and still no AOR receive from buffalo. thank you.... ondang2
