This is possible -- applied in July of 2009, sent my complete documents to Buffalo in January, had my file transferred to Seattle in April, got my medical request in June. 

Sometimes it goes fast . . .  I was just looking at this forum again because I remember how it felt to be applying, and waiting for your life to get started.  For me and my family moving to Canada was not easy, but we're settled and stable here now, and it was certainly worth it.  Best wishes and good luck.
