I recently got married and need to update my documents.
I have some idea about what needs to be done and am writing the same below. Please advise incase it is incorrect.

As of now I have informed the CHC via case specific inquiry that I got married recently and shall be sending them updated documents as soon as my paper work is through.

I'll get my marraige certificate in around 20 days.

Updating forms
  • Schedule 1 Background Declaration(for spouse)-imm0008_ie
Schedule 1 Economic Class- Federal Skilled worker(updated form common for spouse and me)-imm0008_3e
Application for Permanant Residence in Canada(updated form common for spouse and me, especially spouse's family details)-imm0008_gen
    Fee Payment form and fees.

Supporting documents
  • Marraige Registration Certificate(Notarized)
Spouses Birth Certificate, school leaving certificate(notarized)
    Spouses School & college certificate(notarized) and transcripts(orignal)
    Spouses Passports(notarized)
Spouses Job related documents(notarized)-not very sure if they r required pls confirm.
    Spouse's Police clearance Certificate
Spouse's SIN card(he's in Canada on student visa)
    Updated proof of funds

One thing I am not sure about is updating of passports. I am a female and have decided to keep my maiden name after the marraige. How do u update the passport? Is it just for me or my  husband as well?
Pls advise.

Spouses School & college certificate(notarized) and transcripts(orignal) - Only Transcripts in sealed envelope
    Spouses Passports(notarized) -- Yes
Spouses Job related documents(notarized)-not very sure if they r required pls confirm.
Spouse's Police clearance Certificate -- Yes

But, not doing it wouldn't matter.
Pls advise.

Thanks a lot. I shall include some photos too.

Can you please advise whether the forms needed to be updates are the same as I mentioned or all the forms need to be refilled too.

3 months ago, I updated VO after getting married. I sent the following forms and documents:

Forms:

(a)   A cover letter writing in detail
(b) Generic Application Form for Canada [IMM 0008)
(c) Schedule A: Background/ Declaration [IMM 5669] Completed by Principal Applicant and Spouse.
(d) Additional Family Information [IMM 5406] E-Completed by the Principal Applicant & the Spouse.
(e) Supplementary Information - Your travels [IMM 5562]
(e)  Fee Payment Form – Application for Permanent Residence – Federal Skilled Worker [IMM 5620]

Documents of the Principal Applicant and Spouse:

1. Certificate of marriage (notarized)
2. Current and previous copies of passport of spouse (Notarized)
3 Birth certificate of spouse (translated and notarized).
4.  5 copies photographs of spouse as per photo specification.
5. Application fee of spouse
6.  National ID of Spouse (Translated and notarized)
7.  Educational Certificates of Spouse
8. Mark sheets of SSC & HSC & Transcripts in sealed envelope

I think you need not to send PCC this time, VO will require you to send so with MR.

Hope this info has been helpful.

Nano, Prejune applicants are getting email for file updates. Did you get it? If you did not, you can fax a letter immediately to VO after signing it properly to let them know about your marital status change. However, you have got the email from VO, let them send the updated docs along with your spouse's docs.

I have not received any email/letter for file updates.
I have informed them via case specific inquiry that I got married and that I shall send them updated documents/forms once I am through with the paperwork.

The thing is that my spouse is now in Canada again. So Police clearance will take some time and it takes around 2 weeks to get marraige certificate.
So all documentation will take around 1 month.

PCC can be sent later...just let them know that you would be sending it as soon as it is available. They would understand.
Minimum needed is: Updated Forms (Perm App, Schedule 1 for spouse, Background Info for spouse, your own updated background info form updated with spouse info), Payment, Educational Transcripts and Marriage Certificate. School certificates are not needed. Only college onwards.

Send them above doc at the earliest possible.

I did not read the line about the PCC.
Eitherway, I have not received my marraige certificate so I cannot send them the updated documents.
And PCC is required as per NDVO visa office.

Yes, PCC is required. But I believe you can send it later and not depend on its availability to send the package. If PCC are available sooner, send it in one package. This is my opinion. Things might have changed.

You are waiting for your MR. If you send MR, they may/will require PCC again. So, better to send them later if it requires more time to issue. I am supporting DestCan.

I have not said for Medical Request(MR).
I do not have marraige certificate yet.
I am waiting for it.

In India it takes around 15 days after u apply for registration.

And without marraige certificate there is no marraige.

I was telling about your current status Have not you sent full docs and got 2nd AOR? Then you have been waiting for MR! Today you're working on your file updates because of marital status change. Okay okay....if you can manage PCC by the time you arrange your marriage docs, then send the PCC. Not only in India, everywhere in the world legal doc is a must to show that you are married. Best of luck, friend!!!

I don't think Marriage Photos are mandatory but it helps prove wedding is genuine. I had sent it along with Marriage Certificate just to ensure that they do not have any doubt over it. They returned my wedding pics after a few months of submission. If you can include it, well and good. If you don't have them, should not be any problem.
