Narinder, FDs should work...

11. SETTLEMENT FUNDS
Refer to the "Proof of Funds" section of our Web site for exact figures and
instructions.
Provide proof of unencumbered and readily transferable funds in a convertible
currency available for settlement in Canada (for you and your family members):
• current bank certification letter; or
• evidence of savings balance; or
• fixed or time deposit statements.

oh. I mistakenly taken FD's as MF's. MF's cannot be shown as proof.

Have u noticed a red marked note when we try to chk our status online--
It says "**Please note that the Client Application Status and Change of Address service will be unavailable from 4:00:00 PM EDT, Friday, June 5, 2009 until 2:00:00 PM EDT, Saturday, June 6, 2009, so that CIC can maintain the system. "

narinder, please excuse my ignorance. i'm getting confused with these abbreviations. what does MF stand for? and does FD stand for Fixed Deposit?

also, can someone please explain what is the difference between a "fixed deposit statement" and "time deposit statement"?

many thanks.

Narinder / Cool_Sikh,

1 more question.

the docs that you got notarized, did you get the Red "Valid for Embassies and Consulates" stamp done from the notary? They are asking for 25 Rs extra only for that stamp (total 35).

I've got the regular notary stamps. Someone told me yeasterday that there's an additional red stamp, for which the notary asked 25 rs extra per document...

what had you done?

 @  aanbaan,

Maybe you should wait for others to answer too before setting about redoing the whole thing. This is the first time I've heard of this type of seal. The notary I went to just put his normal seal (I remember him putting 2 seals, but not this particular kind) and sign, that's all.

No there is no need for RED seal. Notary and Govt. of India seals are enough. These are acceptable everywhere.
