Hello everyone, I've been going through this website for the past several months as I have been putting together my wife's application for permanent resident under family class.  I was born in Canada, and have been living in Japan for the past 9 years.  I am married to a Japanese woman and together we have two children (their canadian citizenship papers are being processed now).  We are planning to move to Canada in a week, and we have return tickets but we don't intend to use them, it was just much cheaper to buy return tickets as opposed to one-way tickets.  I am a little unsure as to what to say to the immigration officials when we enter Canada.  Should I tell them we are not planning on returning to Japan and that my wife has already filed her application for PR?  Or should we just say we are returning to Japan in 4 days (yes 4 days is when our return ticket is booked).  We will have many bags so it will look quite suspicious.  I do have paperwork showing that I am the birth father of my children and therefore they are Canadian as well as Japanese.  I am just more worried about my wife getting refused entry.  Any insight or help would be very much appreciated.  Thank you.

Tell the truth.  If you've already filed the application, say so.  If you haven't filed it yet, then at the very least make the payment and print the receipt, this gives concrete proof you are approaching the process properly and legally. If asked, you've paid the fees, you are finalizing the application and your wife is accompanying you to wait out the process.  By all means, you do the talking.

Thank you CharlieD, I kinda doubt they will refuse her entry as we have 2 very young children, but maybe I am wrong and children have no bearing on the situation.

Anyways I appreciate your help.
