Hi, I am a permanent resident and I want to give up my status in Canada but my family (My wife and my kids) will stay in Canada. My question is;  Does giving up my status affect the status of my family in Canada ? and can I keep visiting them using a TRV or other types of visas taking in your consideration that I was the main applicant when we first landed in Canada. ?

I'm just curious why you are giving up your status while your family will not?

There is no hurry to give up your PR status until they take it away from you.  They do not even have the tools to deal with people who want to give it up while still meeting the requirements.  Just keep your PR and continue to visit your family with your PR card.  They can continue living in Canada with their PR and apply for citizenship once they have 1095 days.

If you ever lose your PR, your spouse can sponsor you back if you want it.

sometimes it's true that "Never make decision when your angry or frustrated". Think it over and over and over...
