I guess that a lot of people on here are in similar situation as me.And the whole process is confusing and exhausting. But there is a problem:people who are frustrated write a lot and people who receive good news just go on with their daily lives and don't come back here. So...I'd really like to hear about some people who went through this and who are now happy. Give us some optimism, damn it !!

Most of the people who don't come back are busy living their lives, glad that immigration and all the stress it brought into their lives is behind them. I can't really fault them for that, personally. I think people still going through the process can do more for themselves by living their lives as happily as they can through the process. Yes, it takes a long time, yes it's frustrating to know nothing about what's going on, but this is all a phase.
My mantra? "This, too, shall pass." I refuse to let what some bureaucrat in an office somewhere does or doesn't do on a given day dictate whether I am happy and enjoying my life. That is not in their control, it is in mine, and I choose to be happy in each new day.

I think it is normal. We ourselves never will want to come back and experience and remember again these exhausting days. We want to start new life far from stress and of course far from waiting!

There are actually quite a few people who have been approved and still pop in from time to time (please don't ask me to remember any names!). I can say for sure though that I've read many success stories on this forum and there is plenty of reason for us all to keep the faith.

I agree. Many people still come back and help out people like us who are waiting. And to those people, i salute u! I understand also those who rarely come back , maybe they are busy settling down, looking for jobs, etc. there are those people who come here just to get useful info for their app then thats it. But there are some people who develop friendships with people here so they have "emotional attachment" to this forum to help those who are behind them in the process

Immigration is a very difficult process for everyone, so I can understand that it may weight you down. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I also have my ups and downs which is normal.

I have a proposal for Canadian government : they can put people like us on the lie detector and finish the whole procedure within half an hour !

Unfortunately polygraphs are not very accurate But hey, I am one of those people who has gone through the process and is still here. I'm not saying I'll be here forever, but I guess I just feel like, when I was doing research and preparing our app, I got a lot of great help and advice from this forum and I just want to pass along a little of what I learned. Pay it forward, you know? Not to mention that the VO we went through does not seem to have a ton of applicants on this forum, so I thought I stick around to tell others about my experience with it, since when we first applied, I couldn't find any recent info on it! Anyways, good luck, and keep the faith. If not faith in any higher power, at least faith in your relationship and your own patience!

I'm going through a Parent Sponsorship, I'm a dependent child. I've been waiting for nearly 4 years without a word, nothing AT ALL. In the foruns (even this one) is very rare to find others going through the Parent Sponsorship. They started popping out now with the changes that have been made and because some of us, 4 years later, had some news recently, but there are almost no information and no timeline to compare to. It's really frustrating, you can't get much more frustrating than this.
My family is very close, my brother is all alone in Canada trying to make things work and I've been holding up my life all this time because I was never sure if they'd start working on the process now or in a year. Funny enough, last semester I applied to university because I was tired of waiting, I was accepted and a month later my brother received the letter for additional documents that they would start working on our process. I was in a mist of happiness and really angry, but I filled the forms, sent them and forgot about it. You can't let this decide your life or it will drive you crazy. It's hard, I know, trust me, but try to take it as easy as possible. Live your life as if they'd never accept you (cruel, I know), and you shall suffer less.
