Hello,

I am a Canadian citizen living in Toronto and my fiance is a green card holder living in the US. We are getting married in mid May in Toronto. His parents live in India and already have a 10 year multiple entry US visa. My question is where is the best place for them to get their Canadian visa so that they can attend the wedding?

They are planning on spending time with my fiance in the US both before and after the wedding. They plan on being in Canada for up to a week. Should they apply in India before they leave for the US or in Detroit, Buffalo, etc once they arrive in the US? They have been to Canada once in July 2009 to meet me & see Niagara Falls - they got this visa in Detroit as it was planned once they arrived in the US. They did not overstay their visit then. They are both retired and have property and other kids in India, so they do have ties back in India. I have sponsorship forms all ready for them, including my bank balance and tax return forms, invitation letter. I personally feel applying in India is safer, gives more time to sort things out in case they are rejected, for peace of mind, etc. My fiance feels it is fine to apply at the border, perhaps a couple weeks before the wedding or to mail their passports to the office once they arrive in late March/early April.

Thank you in advance for your responses.

 @ poster
Apply in India pls. The first time they usually overlook it, try the second time and you will see what will happen

The rule is to apply in the country where you are resident. In this case it is India, Not the US. The 10 yrs multipls visa they hold regardless
