getting PR card

Hi, my family and I will be driving to Canada -LANDING- sometime end of this month.  Are we supposed to visit certain immigration office (to apply for the PR card itself), or all is done right at the border?

PS, we plan to drive back to US the following day, would that be a problem?

1.  At the border.
2.  You need a canadian address for it to be mailed.
