My friend is looking to come to Canada to visit/marry her boyfriend. Would there be any kind of problems at the border with the IO is she tells them the truth?

It depends on many things....

You need to post more detail.

What details would you need to know?

Does your friend need a visa to enter Canada? What is her nationality/citizenship? Does your friend have "ties" with where she's coming from?

What details would you need to know?

Your friend should read this set of pages as a starter http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/index.asp

What country is the friend from?
Have they been together long?
Has the friend travelled previously?
Does the friend have strong ties to their homeland?

BTW for me, telling the truth is the only way to deal with immigration.

Baloo,

I totally agree about being 100% honest.
She is from Thailand and will be entering Canada with a TRV. They plan to get married and then she will apply for her PR status. (Her b/f is already a permanent resident and has his citizenship application in process.) They first met online back in November of last year. Her b/f travelled to Thailand in March to meet her and they hit it off. Now he wants her to come to Canada, get married and live here.
The only time she has travelled outside of Thailand was just last week when she and her b/f travelled to the UK for a vacation and to meet his family.
She plans on quitting her job in Thailand to come over here.
