my situation is slightly complicated.. or so it seems
i was sponsored by my father and after nearly 6 years i am here in Canada
i do not intend to live anywhere else as i have moved around far to often.

i hold a permanent resident card and i am aware that in due time i can apply for canadian citizenship.
but my question is that could i get married to some one who is o a tourist visa and later apply for spousal sponsorship.
i would appreciate it if any one could point me in the right direction or has had a similar case - and/or any information
on how to proceed regarding this matter.

Yes you can get married on a toursit visa, I did this in New Brunswich. I only had to show my passport for identification when I bought my marriage license. Many people come to canada to get married while being tourists without a problem.

But I think the PR ( I am assuming it is a "he") intends to sponsor his new wife for PR.

The question becomes, "what purpose for entering Canada should the fiancee state?"

If she says she is entering to marry, might the border officer deny her entry because she is unlikely to leave Canada at the end of her tour?  ANd if she doesn't declare her intention to marry, is that misrepresentation that could come back to haunt her when she applies for PR?

My husband entered Canada with a visitor visa and we got married here. But I don't think he told them at the borders  that he was going to get married.

You are all right but it will be better not to bring up the marry issue
with any officer at the point of entry. Since is a Tourist Visa just
based your discussion on your tour. Then when you enter you can
then get married bcos is better to be safe than sorry.
