I want to sponsor my future husband for PR. We are living in the US (I am Canadian, he American) and will file outside Canada. Our wedding is for Oct 17, 2009. Is it possible to get the medical, police clearance, photos etc done a few weeks before the wedding so that everything is ready for the application to be sent immediately after the wedding? We are hoping to have everything done by May or June 09 so that we can move to Quebec at that time.

Has anyone done this? Thanks!

Yes, get it done beforehand, don't forget though that the Police Certificates, FBI and State, can't be older than 3 months when you submit the application.  Don't forget you will require CSQ for Quebec, so you should take a look at the MICC site for the requirements.  I am assuming you mean May/June 10

Thanks very much for your reply. Yes, I meant May/June '10 ;-) I will go check the Quebec MICC site.

PMM, what do you mean by CSQ? I thought it might have to do with "Surete du Quebec" but after reading everything from the MICC site I didn't see that anything was required from SQ...

If you are emigrating to Quebec, you require a Certificate from MICC, CSQ (Certificate Selection Quebec.)

Oh yes, that. It looks like I have to apply to Federal first and once my sponsorship is approved, send this approval letter with application to Quebec MICC. Once Quebec approves, they then submit back to Federal (visa office specified).

Gotta love Quebec!!
