hi guys first of many posts i hope

im from northern ireland and have been doing a lot of research on moving to canada....i have been incontact with a few different employers in the alberta state.im in construction (pipefitter/steamfitter)

i was planning on setting up home in edmonton as it seems to be the main hub for working in the fort mcmurray area of northern alberta

i have started the process of applying to AAIT for my trade certification process, once i recieve this then i have to contact the employer/s for whats call an LMO..after that i may get word back on a job and then make my way out to canada and after 6months im going to apply for my interprovincial red seal certificate...i have also went to local police and got my background checks process started....is there anything else i should be looking into that i may need to be doing before i leave here

also i have noticed my driving licence will not cover me for driving in alberta....i have a northern ireland one and is not classed as a uk licence by the canadian government even though it is in the uk ....i was wondering what way would an international driving licence work and would it cover me just till i was able to get out there and get on my feet

any advice/web sites/links that i may need like house rental and anything i mentioned above will be very gratefull indeed

james
