My wfe and i have been living commonlaw in canada for three years.she is an american citizen and we live on a border town.we own a house jointly in canada,and she is receiving us. social security as well as a company pension from her late husband and is self sufficient including medical.we have just been travelling across the border to do general bus. and doctor appts,but mainly living in canada.Is there some type of residency available for her ither than permant,as all her income comes from the states although we pay our property taxes and buy most things here in canada. thks.

It sounds like you're asking a tax question.  How can your wife have some sort of Canadian residency without paying Canadian taxes, right?  She can't. 

If she wants to remain in Canada without traveling back and forth every 6 months, she'll have to become a permanent resident and be subject to Canadian taxes.
