Gay and conjoint in U.S. Please see note below

Hello,

My conjoint of 34 years has finally sent (and was received by immigration) her application along with the fee on July 22nd of this year. I am sponsoring her. I am retired and she is also. I am 69 and she is 66. We both get our pensions. I sponsored her in the family category which includes conjoints. I would appreciate someone who could tell me how long she will have to wait. Also, may she visit Canada while her application is being processed? She is co-owner of a house with me in Quebec. Actually, she has been living in Canada since 2001, and departs for the U.S. approximately every 3-4 months to visit her sister. A response at your earliest convenience would be greatly appreciated!
