Salam all
I am an Egyptian living in Canada now and I did my medicals on October 25, 2011, and sent an inquiry to London VO to confirm that they get my medical and they replied is under routine background check.. On January 14 I sent an email to London office where my application is filed to get a status update and they replied that it is under routine background check. I sent a fax to CSIS (Canadian Security Intelligence Service) where I saw in many forums that they are responsible for routine background check. Surprisingly they replied that they did not get a request from CIC for my application. My questions is:
Is is possible to conduct routine background check via other agencies rather than CSIS? I know it varies according to nationalities, so is there different agencies responsible for conducting this check for Egyptians? FBI? or else should I send London VO about this?
I lived in Egypt till 2008, then 2 years in KSA then in Canada since 2010.
Kindly reply and thank you so much in advance.

Guys,
Does anybody know how much time is required to get the visa stamp after we send the passports to the embassy,
My passport has been residing in the Canadian embassy for almost 2 weeks now , and no reply and i have to travel soon back to work

It's not easy to predict ... it used to be somewhere around 3 weeks to 1 month. However, I know someone who had sent his passport since early December 2011, and still didn't get it back till the moment |

As far as i know it takes 2-3 weeks to get the VISA, but who knows, i knew some people took more than a month !!!!
I know that is a bit wired, i may suffer same ur problem as i travel a lot but by god willing you will get the VISA soon, but appreciate if you reply back for how long it takes between medical and request for passport ?

I am really worried guys , cause I delayed my travel already by 2 weeks , till now I got nothing and we passed the 2 weeks , I have to travel on the 29th, the embassy people as usual don't reply to my requests, I might find my self in a very bad situation losing my job.
Really worried. to make it worth now the embassy email send a delivery failure reply whenever I try to send an email. If they are going to take more time , I will have to go to the embassy and request the passports even if I lose my PR, better than losing my job to something I don't know about yet.

Hi Enthral, I guess that your best bet is to send an immediate fax to the embassy explaining the situation and requesting them to expedite the visa issuance, or to send you back the passports so you can use them and then revert them back to the embassy after you arrive at the other country Don't rely on e-mails, I believe that fax will be much more effective ...... I would like to ask if anybody who got his refusal letter because of one missed point can sit for IELTS again and got better score and send it to the embassy to open his file again
does it work ?
