FSW Applicant - job offer received after application filed with Visa Office

I am a FSW applicant to the Damascus visa office. I received my 2nd AOR in Sept 2010 and am now waiting for the next step. As a result of a vacation I took to Canada in July 2010, I met with certain professional services firms and as a result I have gone through an interview process, from which a job offer may materialise over the next month.
Assuming that I get the job offer , I have two questions:
1. If the employer applies for a work permit on my behalf, what happens to my immigration process and the status of my family
2. If the employer merely offers the job, what steps do I need to undertaken to expedite the immigration process?
