Ok, here is the situation:
I have been living in Germany the past year. I haven't worked here. I got my mom to file my 2010 tax return, I did sign and send it back, by that time it was a month late. I guess she talked to someone at Canada Revenue and they advised her to send my income tax to the international tax services.

I called them for my option C printout and they say it could be 6 or 7 more weeks until my tax return is done! Which means I can't get my option C until then! Or later! I tried calling the CIC from here in Germany and the line was busy.

What can I do?! Can I somehow apply without the Option C? We want to send in the app in like 2 weeks tops, because the police cert and medicals are already done....what can we do??

my husband and i applied for spousal sponsorship but we did not include option c because he still has to deal with his taxes. what we did was include pay stubs (12 months prior to the application) and employment certificate from his boss. He got approved to sponsor me Smiley

sidkrose, if you've been living out of canada for  the past year and did not declare income  there, you could instead provide evidence of income earned while you were in Germany. Also, I've read on this forum that other posters facing a similar situation included a statement letter with their application indicating that efforts were being done to obtain the Option C printout but there were delays at Canada Revenue, and therefore the printout will be submitted once it becomes available.

I'm sure other posters who experienced this can confirm it can be done without major problems.

I would do this, but as I said above, I have not worked here in Germany. I do not earn much, even in Canada, because I am a student. Do you think I could just include an option C printout from 2009? I could also include a bank statement of mine, and my partner's, also a letter of support from my parents, also a job application I submitted?

I really don't want to mess this up!!

I would  suggest do as blestcheche said, include job payslips for 2010 (if you have them) and/or letter from past employer stating you were employed there. Also add the letter explaining why you are not  including the Option C printout at this time, specifying that you will submit it as soon as is produced by CRA.

Here are some older posts where forum members discuss the same issue and they were approved  without the Option C document:

Just a question regarding option C. Is it normal for CRA to ask what you are requesting one for?  They ask me some questions to determine my identity and then asked what I needed it for, just seems odd to me.

yes, they asked us why we needed a copy
i just said for immigration purposes

we also sent the application in without option c, but we did include other proofs of earnings for that year.
as soon as option c came we forwarded it to mississauga
we were approved for sponsorship, and no delay was caused
just include an explanation....

My wife (my sponsor) has lived in the US for the past 15 years and, in lieu of the Option C Printout, we submitted her earnings for the past 10 years along with a letter stating that she has not lived in Canada for 15 years. We also submitted our most recent joint bank account statement and supplemental financial info. She got sponsorship approval with no questions about the option c.

Hope this helps.

You can always call collect with a CRA agent directly about your tax obligations.
