I am from NZ and I have already got work holiday visa? I am actually into IT, My ultimate plan is to settle in canada. I would appreciate if some one can please update me whether its easy to get a job in canada with work holiday visa and are the canada employers willing to offer Full Time Permanent job to people like me provided we have experience and qualification. what are the permanent job perspectives with work holiday visa ??  I am currently in NZ and have been applying jobs however I am not receiving any response so far ? Thanks

Hi Viksar,

if you have your visa already, finding a job shouldn't be too difficult (Setting aside the worlds recession and the fact that jobs are becoming harder to find!). My boyfriend came over on a working holiday visa from the UK and he found a job no problem. Your problem starts when your working holiday visa ends as this cannot be extended and your employer must be willing to apply for an LMO for you. Its a lot of headache but if they're willing to do it, you could continue working for them until your eligible for residency. If your employer is willing to do it, make sure you apply well enough ahead of time as processing times are becoming absurd for LMO's. Hopefully by the time you would have to apply, they would have caught up again. Most people come over on working holidays and have no problem finding a job, but find themselves unfortunately having to leave after it expires because some employers aren't willing to apply for an LMO or are unsuccessful in doing so.

Good luck!

Just an added comment...

LMOs for IT roles are currently fairly difficult to obtain. This is because as part of the LMO process, an employer must prove they advertised the job and were unable to find a Canadian to hire for the role. Since the economy has slowed down here (and is expected to remain stagnant for another year or few), there are more Canadians looking for work (especially in fields such as IT) and fewer LMOs are being approved in these occupations. This is why many employers are unwilling to go through the process.

Doesn't mean it can't be done - but right now it's not easy.
