Hi,
I have read sevaral threads about questions related to formal education, points, primary/secondary/post-secondary, etc. and am still confused. Here are my questions. Please see if you can clarify.

My educational background (India)
12th Class
Bachelor of Engineering - 4 Years

My wife's educational background (India)
12th Class
Bachelor of Science - 3 Years
Master of Science - 2 Years

Questions
1. Number of years of formal education. Should this be = 16 for me and 17 for my wife? This is based on that Class 12th in India counts as 12 years.
2. Number of years of primary, secondary, post-secondary education. How to split this up. I think post-secondary should be 4 for me and 5 for my wife. Not sure of primary and secondary.
3. If the number of years for primary (for my Q#2) is 5, then do I need to write one row for each class in question 10 of Background/Declaration form? This is because the form says 'Give full details of all the secondary and post secondary education you have had'.
4. If the number of years for primary (for my Q#2) is 8 - making class 9-12 as secondary school, then do I need to write class 9, 10, 11, 12 in separate rows in question 10 of Background/Declaration form? Or only two rows - one for class Xth and other for class XIIth (with two years duration for each of them)?

You are making your case complicated.

I think CIC means secondary is high school. You don't need to list all your educations in that form.

you write 9 to 12 separately if they were done in different schools.

Hi,
I have read sevaral threads about questions related to formal education, points, primary/secondary/post-secondary, etc. and am still confused. Here are my questions. Please see if you can clarify.

My educational background (India)
12th Class
Bachelor of Engineering - 4 Years

My wife's educational background (India)
12th Class
Bachelor of Science - 3 Years
Master of Science - 2 Years

Questions
1. Number of years of formal education. Should this be = 16 for me and 17 for my wife? yesThis is based on that Class 12th in India counts as 12 years.
2. Number of years of primary, secondary, post-secondary education. 5+7+4 or 8+4+4.. doesn't matter... i did 5+7+4.. it went throughHow to split this up. I think post-secondary should be 4 for me and 5 for my wife. yesNot sure of primary and secondary.
3. If the number of years for primary (for my Q#2) is 5, then do I need to write one row for each class in question 10 of Background/Declaration form? This is because the form says 'Give full details of all the secondary and post secondary education you have had'. you can give ranges from when you changed schools and if space is less use extra sheet...
4. If the number of years for primary (for my Q#2) is 8 - making class 9-12 as secondary school, then do I need to write class 9, 10, 11, 12 in separate rows in question 10 of Background/Declaration form? Or only two rows - one for class Xth and other for class XIIth (with two years duration for each of them)? buddy, it's not really as complex as you are making it :) just play safe and make it 5+7+4 and give them school detals starting grade 6 and give ranges based on the time spent in school...

I am not an expert. I have learnt from www.cic.gc.ca, EG7, OP6 and this forum. Use these resources and take your decisions.
