Does anyone know how I would write it in a situation like I'm in?  I'm a Canadian and I'm married to an American and we have been living in the US for 6 years and have three children.  We are applying for my husbands PR and are moving up to Canada either as soon as his PR is approved or Aug of this year so that our oldest child can start kindergarten in the fall.  So do we put everything under my husband's name or mine?  Are we able to put our car's on a goods to follow list and still drive it into Canada before we have it imported? Oh also does anyone know what the rules are about bringing food in with our goods?  We have a lot of food storage and want to know if we can bring it in with us or not.

So do we put everything under my husband's name or mine?

Up to you.  But remember you as a returning resident can only bring up to $10,000 worth of belongings duty free while your spouse has no limit.

Are we able to put our car's on a goods to follow list and still drive it into Canada before we have it imported?

Up to you.  You can import your goods via your car multiple times if you want to

Oh also does anyone know what the rules are about bringing food in with our goods?

For more details, read this website:  http://www.cbsa.gc.ca/fpa-apa/menu-eng.html

We have a lot of food storage and want to know if we can bring it in with us or not.

Thanks one other question.  What about when we have two cars?  Do they go under my name or my husbands  (both have his name on the title)?  And do we get to have 10000 per person for returning?  Like 10000 for me and then another for each of our children?  What about if we move up before his PR is approved?  Do I have to claim everything as mine and our children's then (except the cars?) Am I able to drive a US plated car up or is only my husband able?  I have a US drivers licenses but I'm not sure that will have any baring on being a Canadian driving a US car.  thanks everyone for all the help!!

Thanks one other question.  What about when we have two cars?  Do they go under my name or my husbands  (both have his name on the title)?  Please check with Allison.  She has experience:  http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t91338.0.html

And do we get to have 10000 per person for returning?  Like 10000 for me and then another for each of our children?  What about if we move up before his PR is approved?  Do I have to claim everything as mine and our children's then (except the cars?) It's really up to you.  There is no minimum and maximum limit.  But if anyone bringing 10,000, should declare it to the officer

Am I able to drive a US plated car up or is only my husband able?  I have a US drivers licenses but I'm not sure that will have any baring on being a Canadian driving a US car.  thanks everyone for all the help!!

nice information

Hi

1.  The B4A is the continuation sheet of the B4  http://cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/b4a.pdf
2.  For low value items, x boxes of books, x books of kitchen utensils x boxes of used clothing.  Electronics serial no. list separately, jewelery (expensive) should have valuation and pictures, especially if in goods to follow.

very helpful...
thanks

This was my goods to follow list.
As you can see, I just did approx amounts and guestimates for prices. For clothes and stuff, I had no idea and the customs officer gave me figures, they were well over what I was taking, but it is better to overestimate, rather than underestimate
