Hi

I am a permanant resident of Canada and living in Canada for the last 4 years with an Indian passport. I am getting married in April this year. My fiance is from India and has never travelled to Canada before. I will be travelling to India for about two weeks to get married. I want bring her with me to Canada at the end of the two weeks.

1. I will be filing an application for her PR sponsership from India as soon as I get the marriage cetificate and photos, but in the meantime can I also apply for a visitor visa so that she can join me immediately?

2. If the visitor visa is not accepted (because the processing of sponsorship PR is in progress), can i apply for a work permit instead?

3. If the above two are not possible, is there any other visa that I can apply for her?

Please guide kindly.

Thanks,
Deepak

1 - You can apply for a visit visa, it is likely to be rejected.

2 - I believe that your wife has to do this.

3 Maybe educational/study?

When a spouse is in Canada and the applicant needs a visa to visit, it is not usual for visas to be granted - the IO may "see" the chance of overstay is to high a risk.

You are likely to have quite a few months apart waiting for the process to complete.
