In order for us to help we need to know your country of citizenship as that will dictate wether or not you need a visa for those countries

Hi, you dont require a transit visa if ur transiting from London or Germany. But yes, for USA , you do require a visa for transit.
I myself had a stopover at Heathrow Terminal going from Dubai to Toronto. Many use Lufthansa, having stopover at Frankfort. You can even
use KLM, having stop over at Amsterdam.

This is a note from the post of Captain Qorax,

For everyone:
Try & fly with KLM... I just took theirs from Dubai to Toronto [via Amsterdam]... I found them better than BA [which I take often on the same route] -- better service - more baggages / no hang-ups on excess Kgs - less hassle   @   Heathrow on security - better flight conditions - better food & in-flight entertainment - shorter duration -- overall a nicer experience.

Through the US and UK you will need a transit visa. US is a C-1 Visa. For the UK visit: http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/

Hi Rod, i myself travelled a month ago to Toronto via Heathrow, had a stopover of 6 hours. I did not had any transit visa of UK.
And I belong from Pakistan.

You can read below :

Passengers exempt from the DATV requirement
Holders of certain documents are, regardless of nationality, exempt from the requirement to hold a Direct Airside Transit Visa when transiting the UK.
A transit passenger is not required to hold a transit visa if he holds, or a person with whom he arrives in the United Kingdom holds on his behalf:

transit passengers dont need any transit visa.
transit passengers are not allowed to go outside from the transit hall of any airport. if they want to do so , they'd need a visit visa.

Hi Jnathan
Transit Visa is needed by Indians in Germany, even if they do not go out of the terminal except under certain conditions like when they have a Valid US or a Candian Visa or PR etc. Refer to the following link- this from german embassy in India, for list of exceptions

Thats unnecessary harassment ankit.
Germany is not a preferred transit point for Canada bound passengers.
there are other airlines in Europe that has flights to Toronto/Canada example:  Turkish airlines, Air France.
