hi, I just want to ask some few questions regarding the application for a live-in caregiver. i am currently working here in hong kong. My employers are moving to Vancouver canada in few months and they wanted to take me there with them. And here is the situation:1) My boss is soon to be wed and they don't have their kids yet. Do they qualify to hire a live-in caregiver yet? 2) I went to college in Philippines but unfortunately didn't finish the course which is BS Nursing. I finish one- and -a- half year of that but i do have 72 units or 74 units in total credits in college. Do I qualify for the required level of education? I do have experience in taking care of babies and toddlers with my past employers and that is about 3 years since then.
By the way I am A Filipino working in Hong Kong.
I am hoping you could really help me on this matter and give some useful information to begin with the application and how to get it as fast as possible... Thank you very much and hope to hear from you!! Have a nice day!!!

Your employers do not qualify to hire a live in caregiver or nanny right now. To qualify, they should have a child or children, or elderly in their home or somebody who's disabled. In your case, you should show proof of at least 12 years of education, the equivalent of graduating/finishing secondary education in Canada. As to qualifying as a nanny or caregiver, your experience is enough but you have to show proof (again) of the paid employment (tax returns, or previous contracts with your past employers, which must be within the last three years)

hi do you have 6 months caregiver certificate? is your employer hk citizen going to immigrate to canada? Is your existing contract is still valid when they move? I suggest ask your employer to call hk embassy if they could get you a visa tied up with the employer. Then when your here in canada. They could apply you as housekeeping work permit. Or if they are planning to have kids transfer your wp to live in caregiver and start the processing all over again.
Im not sure if they could get you a visa but there no harm on trying.

I am a domestic helper. Can I accompany my employer to Canada?

  • the domestic helper will only be performing his or her regular duties for the employer AND
