Fingerprints

I'm in the process of putting together my PR application. I'm confused. On the website is says I need a police certificate which is ok. I understand that and can get that from the Australian Federal Police. However, on reading the application instructions it says that I am required to get fingerprints also. How is the fingerprint part possible if I am in Canada and not returning to Australia??? Help!

1. You go to the Corp of Commissionaires or another fingerprinting agency, have you prints taken, and then there is a process called mailing them.

Hey, I've just done my fingerprints. You just go to your local Commissionaires and get them done there and then. Heads up, it takes 6-10 business days to get the result mailed to you, and this is what you need to put in with your application. A lot of places advertise the fact they can get a result in 24-48 hours, but this is only for people doing names-based police record check, which is a lower level of clearance than fingerprinting.
This is from my experience in Winnipeg, Manitoba - it may be different elsewhere.

I needed fingerprints too for Australia. I live in the UK. Just follow the process on the link and send your prints along with the application form. If you lived in Victoria or Queensland you also need to obtain a Traffic History or a Licence History Search. (If you didn't have an australian drivers licence then you won't be able to obtain a traffic report/licence history search however you must provide evidence, issued by the Queensland and/or Victoria roads authority, stating that you have never held a driver's licence in that state).
All the info you need for the national police check is here

Info on traffic History report is here
:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/australia.asp
Took about 3 weeks (including postage) for the National Police check. And 2 weeks for the letter confirming I don't have an Australian drivers licence.
Good luck
