Hi all
I had posted this query in another thread and got a few replies too, but i thought let me start a new thread about this and reach out to wider audience. I thank those who replied in that thread.
I applied for citizenship more than a year back under FSW to the New Delhi office, and my application status changed to In Process on Jan 12, 2011.
Last week I got a call from the CHC New Delhi office, asking me to come to their embassy in New Delhi for fingerprints. I have been asked to present myself at the embassy on 17th March at 9AM for getting my fingerprints taken.
Now, i was not expecting this step, and i have not seen anyone else mention this either in all the cases that i have come across here.
So, does anyone know what this is all about?
I had traveled to Canada on Work Permit way back in 2001, and i have mentioned this in my application as well. Do you think they are asking for my fingerprints to confirm my claim?
Has anyone else been asked to submit their fingerprints while their application is in processing?
I have sent an email also to the embassy but the chances of getting a reply in time are slim.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

its very simple once you in Canada before they ask for fingure prints and send to RCPM for security check in canada. so Its very normal dont worry.

That is indeed comforting. Thanks! Does this give any idea as to what stage my application is in?

It seems your security bcakground checks are in process. Since you have been to Canada in the past, they want to take your fingerprints and send to RCMP for police clearance.
Wishing you good luck..

Just now returned from the embassy. I reached there at 8:15 and there were a few others also who had been called for fingerprinting. It was quite efficient though. They called us in at 8:45 and i was out by 9:20. By the way, i was surprised to see that they still use the ink and paper method to take fingerprints. I guess that will cause some delay in processing though.
Also, there were some other people also there who had been called for submittimg their dna!
Lastly, not relevant to this thread but since i was not sure about this aspect earlier, i will postit here. I was nit sure whether they have the facility to keep your cellphones and return them once you are done. Turns out they do.
Cheers

Thanks for sharing your experience. However could you ask them why they needed these fingerprints?

Laklak, my status changed to In Process on jan 19 2011. My file was transferred to ND office in march 2010. I think they updated the status to IP a week later, ie the date inside is mentioned as Jan 12.
Yukon, i asked them but they didnot give any specific answer. I checked with a couple of other people who had come for fingerprinting. The only common thing among us was tbat we all had been to Canada earlier.

OK, I guess they are wanting the RCMP clearance certificate.
