Hi....what an effort this is turning out to be.

I am well educated, and I want to come to Canada and see what it is like to work there before I decide to come there permanently.  But it seems that nobody wants to issue a temporary work permit.  I get lots of e-mails back saying get in touch once you have your papers.....does anybody ever manage to get a temporary work permit?  And, also they seem to take a long time - I can see why employers don't bother!!!

Can somebody tell me that they have been successful in getting a work permit?  Do they exist???

Hi,
if you just want to try working for a year in Canada and you are between 18 and 35 then try the Work and Holiday Program/ Youth Mobility Program-Work and Travel they offer. We did that last year. It is a one year limited work permit. You can work for any employer you choose during that year. Check the website www.cic.gc.ca or google "immigration canada" and you will find the visa.

We hope this helps :-)
