My AOR date was November 5, 2008

My passport request for visa May 12, 2009

The sponsorship stuff I don't really have the time line for.

Visa approved & issued May 19th

Landed May 19th......

I am officially a permanent resident, yes!!!!!!!!

So I flew up to Buffalo on Monday May the 18, 2009.  Then on Tuesday I took my passport to the Buffalo Consulate.

It took about 2 hours for them to issue me my visa from the time they took my passport.  I waited there then they gave it back to me and told me that I could go across border to do my landing, but I had to wait 3 hours.  I'm guessing that maybe they had to update their systems or something, not sure why you have to wait that long, but that's the protocol.

So I waited then I went to the border crossing at the Peace Bridge crossing which is my favorite port of entry they have lots of agents there working and my landing took about 15 minutes from the time I got in there.

Just make sure you have your list of goods to follow, and I didn't have much to put since so don't get crazy if you don't have much to put down.  And if your importing a car looks like it's gonna cost you about $200.00 canadian from what I was told.  I had a rental and will be driving up at a later date so i'll have to pay that import fee when I drive my car up.

So keep the faith,  after a long wait and having to send in documents that they said I didn't send in like my marriage certificate.  It took my application about 7 months.  One piece of advice I can say is after a few months have passed with your medicals being done and your application being in process start sending the office that is processing your case emails to make sure that your medicals have been requested in which my case it was Ottawa having to send them to Buffalo Consulate.....

Good Luck,
It will happen don't get frustrated just wait.....

And you can just call me Nick,

Thanks Marlena

Yeah just wanted to let people know that it can happen and it will happen as long as you send in everything they tell you, and even if they tell you that you missed something just send that in as well and make sure that if you do send something back to them.  Everything I sent back to them I sent it next day delivery so it would get there as fast as possible and you can track it also with signature confirmation.

7 months I got it done from my AOR date.

Congrats Nick!!
7 months was really a long time. Did you send the police clearance certificates initially along with your application or you sent it after they started processing your case? my worry is that if the processing goes beyond 6 months do we need to send all the police clearances again?

Enjoy!!

Well flying colors I initially send in everything, but when I sent my FBI fingerprints, I didn't have them stamped by the FBI.  So they sent my stuff back and told me to have my fingerprint card sent off to the FBI then send it back to them.  That was 1 of 3 instances where I had to resend something or sign something I didn't.  So yeah if I didn't have to do that who knows, my case maybe would have been done in about 4 or 5 months instead of 7.
