I'm no immigration expert but from whar Ive read in the embassy website, whether you're staying permanently or not, the IO will expect that we can show our POF. You can ask any commercial bank if they issue travellers check or BD.

Bank drafts - usually US dollar kaya issue ng mga banks but for certain third currencies may specific branch lang ang pwede magissue non. Also only commercial/unibanks and sometimes Thrift banks can issue Bank Drafts kasi dpat may license ang bank to do such transaction.

Dami rin case na pinapakita and sometimes pinacount ung PoF sa harap ng IO sa Point of Entry. Mayroon din nagrisk na di pinalad - Denied ung entry nya and consequently visa and pinauwi sya sa pinas. So you ask yourself if its really worth the risk.

Thanks BM on your advice... In lieu of BD or TC, puwede rin kayang Bank Statement ang ipakita sa IO plus cash to make the total required POF at the point of entry... since we will be stayiny only for max. 2 -weeks

If not, and no other option but to get a BD or TC, papano ulit maibabalik yon sa account since hindi naman gagamitin and the only purpose is to show as POF... kanino ba ipinapangalan ang BD ... I'm not familiar kc with these financial instruments

Your name should be the one on the BD and I think you can deposit it in any commercial bank so if it is only for POF you can deposit it when the time you came back from Canada.

Sa IO di pwede ang bank statement lang kasi ndi un proof that at the time of entry eh you are bringing it with you. Kung strict ang IO mo hanapin nya sayo lahat or atleast close to what you stated in your application. Risky talga kung di mo mapakita either BD/TC/Cash ung buong amount although parang konti lang ung mga taong tinanungan nyan based sa mga experiences sa mga forums.

Sa Bank Draft/Travellers Check - good as cash yan as per bank parlance. nakahold/reserve na ung amount na yan sa bank account mo - meaning di pwedeng iwithdraw hanggat outstanding (not negotiated) ung BD/TC.

AFAIK, pwede ibalik ung amount na un by cancelling or payment stop order ung Bank Draft/TC may charges un just like any other check don sa bank na nagissue non. Bank Draft should be under the applicant's name (usually sa principal applicant)

hope this helps

Ask m PNB financial Center (Head Office) sa pasay. May contact number sa website nila. Im sure meron sa PNB ng BD in canadian dollars. Universal bank naman yan.

Sa BPI meron din sa Paseo Branch near Paseo Center Makati - few blocks from the Head Office mejo madami kasi tao sa H.O. BPI card center building.

Sa PNB as I Inquired bfore, they dont issue CAD bank draft, but they do have a branch in canada, so the transfer of funds there would be faster daw. but I failed to inquire if we can open an account here for use in canada.
