Hello fellow CPAs! For those Filipino CPAs who are already in Calgary or who are coming to Calgary, you might want to join PICPA- Calgary Chapter.

PICPA-Calgary was formed to gather all FIlipino CPAs who are now living in Calgary, AB into one group to help each other and work towards the realization of the professional goals and aspirations shared by every Filipino CPA living abroad.
By joining the chapter, one gets the chance to be reinstated as a Member of Good Standing of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), bring one's educational and professional qualifications at par with global standards thru Continuing Professional Education (CPE), be updated with the latest development and happenings in the field and practice of Accountancy, and broaden one's professional and social networks.
For more information, you may access the PICPA-Calgary Chapter website at http://picpa-calgary.org.

Thanks!

hello welcome po,

you may start gathering your dox/support papers in preparation for your application with CIC.. eg. transcript, diploma, prc, cert of employment, detailed job description, nbi, ielts... let's hope they will include the noc1111 in the new occupations list.. if not, the nearest noc that might apply to you will be 1122.. you still have enough time to gather all dox as CIC will start accepting applications only in jan2013, assuming you are applying without an arranged employment or you don't fall under the phd stream..
For the meantime, you can also start browsing the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website for guidelines on how to apply..

good luck po! Cheesy

Dear Friends,

Since this is a CPA thread, I have a question:

I am applying to Quebec as an Accounting Assistant with a Bachelors in Finance and Accounting. Do I fall under the category of regulated professions/trade? I think that Accounting Assistant (NOC 1431) is very different from Accountant (NOC 1111) and therefore, I am not considered to be a professional who wants to practice a regulated trade/profession in Quebec. Correct?

**spam**s are telling me that my work experience falls under the 'professional trade' category but I don't agree with them.

Seniors, please advice urgently...thank you so much!

hello,

here's the list of regulated professions in quebec:
http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/publications/en/dcs/A-0527-JA.pdf
if you do not need a licence, certificate or registration to work in a specified job eg. acctg assistant, then your work falls under the non-regulated category.
hope this helps..

hi fellow filipino CPAs.. I am roxanne. Still here in the philippines. waiting for my LMO for my visa. reading the previous post.. im getting interested with the CA/CMA/CGA/CPA. Can you give me some advices on what to prepare here in the philippines if i decided to take one of the four.. I would like to be a CA.. since only business law is required but 3 years of CATO is difficult cause i wont be earning money, if im right? so the best possible thing is for me to become a CMA/CGA. which do you think is for me if my experience here in the philippines is in corporate setting? the common req for CMA and CGA and the cost of achieving those? and the time ?Smiley

sorry for the many questions  Embarrassed

BTW..i only have 6 months of experience here as of now.

Hi Gwen,

Feel ko kilala kita. I think kaklase tayo sa Masters.. Hehehe.. Anyway, you can check the CIC website for further details. Mas maganda if you have a direct employer there para mabilis ang proces s kasi freeze ata ang application for FSW category. You can try applying through this site. Www . jobbank . gc .ca Cheesy

hi guyz, advise nyo naman ako if i did the right move. plan ko kasi apply muna student visa while waiting sa pagresume ng FSW this 2013. All set na sana yung papers ko for lodging this july 1 kaso bigla naman nagstop...  Angry nag-apply ako assessment sa CGA-BC and they gave me a conditional letter of acceptance then 13 courses naman yung nacredit sa kin pero mejo madami pa rin ako itetake, PACE Level yung assessment sa kin. my chance kaya ako ma-aprub ng student visa and maka-affect kaya to sa future application ko sa FSW?

hoping for your feedback  Grin

Need your help and advice.

Natanggap ko na COPR ko! Thank God!

But my concern is that they did not stamp my passport or provide visa on it. Wala ring letter of instructions na pinadala, just plain COPR and submitted docs.

Will the COPR suffice para makapasok sa Canada for landing?

Appreciate all your comments.

Thank you in advanced!

Pls contact them ASAP and inform them that they've missed stamping your pp with visa, so that you can send your pp back to CEM.. i'm sure na overlooked nila yung stamping.. hindi po kayo pwde magland without the visa.. nandun po sa cover letter ng package na natanggap mo from CEM ang contact details nila.. kung wla po yung cover letter, meron po contact ng CEM sa MR letter nyo (hoping nagkeep po kayo ng copy)..
otherwise, let's wait for the others to provide CEM's contact.. goodluck po Cheesy
