Nilagay ko na sa favorites yung link sa blog mo.....keep on posting and keep the Faith!
I'm sure God will grant our wishes in His perfect time. God Bless.

Same din ang feeling ko with Mimi and Isarog. Panay interviews, walang call back.
Naniniwala pa rin ako na in God's time everything will come.
I know ganon din sa inyo.  Hintay lang kayo and Pray...it will come.

Kaya eto ako ngayon pa-senti senti lang sa ulan at lamig.  I hope you guys visit my blog.

Tama ba alala ko you are working for a US company, malaki din ba pagkakaiba nya sa US Taxation (other than the tax rates)?

Yes, Pachochay.. I am working for a US CPA firm. Hindi ako expert sa US taxation pero may idea ako. Mas mahirap at complicated ang Canadian Taxation, masyadong maraming conditions at pasikot-sikot pero I think it's because they want to make it as humane as possible and avoid double taxation (that's my thought)  Wink.
Di pa ako nakapag-enroll sa CGA, pero nakapagpa-evaluate na ako. Kaso lang hinihintay ko pa yung certificate of good standing ko from PICPA kaya 8 subjects pa lang na-exempt sa akin.

Hi isarog! Thanks for your reply. I landed in Canada few days ago. Oo ng, i agree mahirap mag start sa Canada. I started sending my resumes last thursday, two of the headhunters called up but then when they heard na philippines ang experienve biglang hindi na tinuloy interview sa phone. It's frustrating.  However, swerte lng tlaga ng iba. My colleague landed in toronto in 2007, luckily nakakuha sya agad ng job as accountant, may temporary opening kasi. Currently, she's already a sr. Accountant and is already in her 4th yr CGA studies. I hope God will help us and give us a better work & life in Canada. Tiisin lng ntin mg pinagdaraanan ntin then everyrhing will turned out to be ok. Cheers!

Hi to all! My name is Lloyd isa ding CPA, dumating ako dito last year as TFW pero ang lmo ko nun e office assistant ang designation kahit na accounting jobs ang pinagagawa sa akin.  Ngayon pagka expire ng lmo ko nakuha ako ng bagong work sa ibang company as bookkeeper which will enable me to apply for PR.

I was hoping someone here could help me to find an employer who could support me in my PR application.  I'm located at Calgary, AB.

Happy New Year po sa lahat!

Smiley Nakakainspire at marami akong nalaman Wink
Smiley

Godbless us all Grin

Happy New Year kapwa CPAs! It's my 7th month here in Canada. I landed in Winnipeg last June 2, 2011 tapos naghanap ng work online sa kahit saang city throught the jobbank. By God's grace, after 2 months e nakahanap din ako ng work as an Accountant here in Brandon, Manitoba. I had my credentials assessed by CGA Manitoba within the month of June 2011 din para maisali ko sa aking resume that I was assessed in the Level 4. Malaking tulong sa paghahanap ng work in the accounting field na meron tayong assessment by a professional body and syempre with lots of prayers to back us up. Binigay kaagad sa akin ang Accountant position after a week of orientation with the company. To God be the glory! Nitong December 2011 nag enrol na ko sa CGA and is taking up Personal and Corporate Taxation para magkaroon din ng Accountant's designation dito sa Canada in the coming years. Madaming dapat basahin, mahirap in the sense na dapat pagsabayin with work which is very demanding and pressured pero kaya natin to. Iba ang Pinoy! Fellow CPAs let's continue to dream big. God bless everyone!

flattered naman ako at may fans club pala ako dito  Grin Grin Grin Grin

to pachochay---> wag matakot, sabi nga nila kaya natin to. we just need to start somewhere. I thought I was prepared. I did all researches that I can do and everything. sabi nga ni isarog eh gawin nya akong information officer,  Cheesy.

I was the boss, somebody comes to give me coffee/snacks at breaktime, I can close my office at breaktime and have a nap, or just be alone when I need time to think or relax, I was well paid. more than I can spend, honestly. Life here is totally different. Sometimes, naiisip ko, sa pinas I was the boss, dito busabos..excuse my word. Utusan kasi you have a supervisor. Yng little self pampering na ginagawa ko like monthly facials, massage, frequent manicure and pedicure, i gave them up here. sayang ang oras at dollars  Sad Even sleeping for 8 hours is luxury for me. Sinasanay ko na sarili ko to be contented with 5 hours sleep each night coz i'm preparing for the CA exams next year. Godwilling pag nakapasa ako, I have my plans laid out....1. give thanks to God of course, 2. sleep for 8 hours or more, 3) mag-aaply na ako sa gusto kong position with a shoutout "HEY, here's the CA you've been waiting for!", 4) uwi ako ng pinas for vacation for max 1 month 5) balik Canada for interviews Grin Grin Grin Grin yan ang goals ko ngayon, which keeps me going... kaya di baleng busabos muna, there's no other way but UP when you start at the bottom, di ba?

just don't expect too much. Toronto is the melting pot of brilliant accountants from all over the word. magaling man akong naturingan sa pinanggalingan ko I have to accept the fact na bumabaha ang magagaling dito at nauna sila kaysa akin. they have homegrown accountants, too. kaya there's very slim chance for me who came from a developing world to conquer it here in short time. siguro yung iba ay talagang maswerte. ito lang ang kapalaran ko sa ngayon kaya I have to accept it and bear with it....for the meantime.

and yeah,mag-ipon kayo ng mag-ipon, you'll need them here, not just at the POE. to isarog, wag na manghinayang at nabawasan ang baon, buti ka nga at may baon eh  Grin Grin Grin ako binibilang ko kng magkano naiwan sa baon, hindi kung magkano ang nadagdag Sad Sad ang importante, nakikita ko naman kung saan napunta, at least we have a decent and comfy apartment. we have stable jobs kahit di malaki ang sweldo. kahit papano nakakapagpadala pa sa pinas.

Hello mimi, i've been following your posts and from many other contributors, very informative. Based sa research mo na, you think pwedeng ma i waive ang practical experience requirement sa akin given my 3 years external audit experience from Phils. and 5 years hedge funds administration experience ko from the Caribbean? Also, how much ang assessment fee? We are moving to Toronto this year from the Caribbean.

Thanks in advance, you've been very helpful to everyone here. And Good luck on your quest for CA!

hi bonifacio,

tnx a lot!

no fees required for assessment. just secure practical experience certifications from your employer before coming here.  here's a very informative link..http://www.icao.on.ca/Admissions/InternationallyTrainedAccountants/1010page1359.aspx

you can even start now while you're still there. i think ma-waive din in your case.

goodluck!

Salamat sa reply po! tinitingnan ko na ang  "International Candidate - Application for Assessment" na pdf., and am i correct na you need to register as a CA student first para di ka magbayad ng assessment? Pasensiya di ko naintindihan masyado based sa page 3 of 9 ng pdf file na na download ko. Maraming salamat ulit.

Nag email ako sa Ontario pala about  sa isang question whether " Do you intend to do public practice or not". Curious ako kung ano ang difference in terms of requirements. Kelangan ko lang ng canadian designation for that career (opinion ko lang yan). Once i get their reply, i share ko din for reference ng mga interested sa information na yan. Again, thanks everyone!

hello! from the looks of it to your advantage pa na nearly 2 years lang ang experience mo. karamihan ng Ph CPA na lumilipat sa canada start over sa CGA studies nila. and I am talking about someone who has 8 to 10 years experience tapos mag aaral uli.

at least ikaw fresh pa sa mind mo ang cpa exams at bata ka pa.

applying as trainee or intermediate accountant sa Big 4 may be your best bet. anyway ganun din naman lahat coming from the philippines moving to work in the west e one position lower ang binibigay sayo.

that way me trabaho ka na (work experience in canada) and yung exam fees mo e shouldered pa ng firm. meron ka pang study leave.

suggestion lang naman  Grin

FYI to everyone, if you don't know already. Maybe a useful reading para sa decision making nating mga pinoy accountants moving to canada at nag iisip kumuha ng canadian designation.

Quebec CA,CGA and CMA designations finally merged to form a new and uniform accounting designation called Certified Professional Accountant. Helpful links here: ...h t t p://www(dot)cica(dot)ca/about-the-profession/ofelia/index(dot)aspx. Other provinces are in exploratory merger talks so far.

"We believe it would take at least 18 months to create the new CPA certification program. This would mean at the earliest, transition timing would be:
• September 2013: The new CPA certification program would be launched. All new candidates would start in this program.
• Fall 2015: The first CPA final examination would be offered."

hello!

mukhang karamihan leaning towards CGA and part of the reason e dahil mahirap makapasok sa approved training office.

pero parang sa nababasa ko mas konti rin ang requirements sa CA. so is this not a better option for CPAs na nasa audit for more than 7 years and also to those in Big 4 in Europe and Australia?

marami ring options for exemptions sa CKE, SOA, and practical experience (see links below). so eventually enrollment lang sa business law and the UFE tama ba?

http://www.icao.on.ca/Admissions/InternationallyTrainedAccountants/MemberAcctgBodyOutsideCanadaNoDegree/Exemptions/1010page13544.aspx

tama ba ang pagkakaintindi ko? comments most welcome!

hi boldon,

sorry at natagalan ako reply. medyo bz lola mo hehe.  There's a difference pag nag public practice ka, different requirements. public practice dito eh yong u will be establishing an accounting firm of your own and render assurance services.

parang may another exam pa nga yata.
