I tried the link, damaged daw ung file? toronto lang ba or even in other provinces? if only my relatives are in toronto, parang the best the magstart dun... kaso, andun sila sa vancouver so if "who you know" matters in getting a job, my chances are greater in BC... Thanks if i were u, don din tlga ako sa location ng relatives ko. morale booster as u start a new beginning not to mention the filipino bayanihan spirit, di ba? tlgang tutulong sila sa u.it wud make things a lot easier for u and ur family. so stick with the original plan. ako kasi, no relatives anywhere in canada, just my friends na kalat2x din in ontario province. kaya toronto target ko kc sabi nga nila mas madali mkahanap ng trabaho at mas culturally diverse. it wud be easier for me and hubby. But im planning to relocate and settle in BC, God willing, after 3 years, kng medyo stable na, kasi mas malapit sa pinas, mas ok ang weather, and the natural beauty it boasts. fast-forward tlga ano? well, wla naman bayad mangarap eh. kaya lubusin ko na but for now, back to the reality, wla pang M R

Hello guys & gals, I am back to this thread. Finally CMA Ontario gave their feedback and evaluation on my Transcripts. I am eligible to enroll for the Accelerated Program. Actually they gave me also the application/enrollment form to fill out and submit to them if I am interested to enroll this fall which is about to start their formal classes this last week of August. BTW, 7 months extensive study ang Accelerated Program and twice (fall & winter) lang per year. Fall classes start august –april while Winter will starts Jan-Jul. Those who will successfully pass the Fall classes shall be required to take the CMA entrance exam in mid June while for winter shall be required to take the mid October entrance exam. After passing the entrance exam, you will be eligible to enter the Strategic Leadership Program which shall be for the period of 2 years. Year 1 will be the development phase na kung saan ang final assessment is CMA Case Exam. Parang bibigyan ang candidate ng isang fictitious company tapos dapat ma comply nya lahat ng requirements by applying what he learned from the program. Individual ang exam na to and you need to pass this exam to proceed sa next phase. Year 2 will be the Application Phase and the final assessment here is the CMA Board Report. More of team/group work ito. Then ang required na practical experience para ma award ung CMA designation will be two years at pwede sya concurrent while you are student / or during your SLP (I am not really sure kung tama ang intindi ko na pwede e-claim ang experience na to if you are employed sa Company na ung work mo is related sa pagiging CMA. Isa pa eto sa mga eka-clarify ko in the future. Rough estimate of Costs. (Eto madugo): Acceleration Program: CAD 3,080 Entrance Exam: CAD 1,100 Strategic Leadership Program: CAD 11,000 (payable in 4 installments) Then rewrites: depende per stage. Mahal din ang rewrites kaya bawal bumagsak. Kaya ngayon palang Uber tipid na ako. At gumagawa na ako ng budget ko for one year ko sa Canada, considering unemployed ako for 3 months... conservative ika nga... Hyperactive na ata ako

Hello Fellow CPAs!
Yung panganay nyang anak who is 25 years old, CGA na at sya nman kumukuha ng paisa-isang subject.
Madiwara ang requirements at hard work talaga bago mo matapos.
If full time ka raw, meaning 3 subjects a year, kayang tapusin in a year & a half. Syempre you have to balance things din - resources (dahil sobrang mahal ang tuition!), time with family (especially sa me malilit pang anak na tulad ko), time pra mag-aral (remember klangan natin kumayod for our daily expenses), etc.
So bottom line kung priority mo family over career, go for CGA. Kung bata ka pa at career driven, go for CA. It's good to have varied opinion although syempre at the end of the day we still decide what will work best for us & our family:-)
Ako, I'm still struggling whether to get CA or CGA.
Pahabol pa nya, pag me MBA ka raw super big time ka dun as in wow! Yung panganay nya ang next target after CGA: MBA or CPA-USA.
There, my longest post since joining...whoa!!!

Bale, they are always looking for CAnadian education & experience, sad to say. Unless of course US or European din yung education mo... So kung gusto mo magign "specialist" kuha ka either of the 3 designation - CA, CGA or CMA. Then later if MBA if gusto mo pa higher position (& pay). Or pde rin derecho na MBA if ang target mo all around manager instead of specializing sa Finance/Acctg field. Let's wait for the others especially the seniors to comment. Pag may MBA na ba, kailangan pa rin bag mag CA or CGA?

hey guys......it has been a long time since i visited this forum.....
i am happy that someone started this thread for fellow accountants dreaming their life in Canada....
i already landed last July 8 in Ontario...stayed for 3 weeks and visited Saint John's NL/Calgary and Vancouver....came back in Saudi Arabia to continue my work.....
was able to apply for my SIN and bank account in ScotiaBank (they are offering good deals with the new immigrants, i got as well a credit card with a minimum credit limit of 1k) ok na rin as a start....eto ung magiging credit history mo later on....
i also got the PR cards after 6 weeks....
regarding designations....previous posts are really helpful....CGA is the easiest among the 3.you don't need to be employed sa isang accredited training center for CGAs kahit san basta accounting related ok na...kung CA ang papasukin mo you have to be employed first sa isang accredited CA employer...in CGA level 4 agad tau....i am planning to enroll in winter session...Jan-Mar.....nga pala....landed immigrants lng ang pwde mag enroll sa course.....CGA is an online learning....pero may national exam which is conducted every quarter end.....and you have to physically take the exam where you are enrolled.....approximately....Filipino accountants will be spending more than $10k for the CGA Program...you can finish it in 2-5 years time...depending on how many subjects you are taking.....
note...Canadian employers are really looking on the designations.....sabi nga nung isa sa forum...kahit CGA student ka pa lng edge na un....
God bless sa lahat ng applicants.....hope you will all soon receive your visas...para dumami na tau dun.....

Ako, waiting for MR.
@ cpa2cananda: saan mo eventually planong mag-settle pagbalik mo, Toronto o Calgary? Kumusta ang opportunities for accountants sa Alberta? Since most likely manggagaling din kmi sa Gulf, pde malaman anong airline sinakyan mo at kung ok naman ang naging biyahe - i have 2 small girls kc? thanks for sharing.
to all: the mere fact na pumasa tayo CPA, malaking achievement na yun. I'm sure formality na lang sa atin yung designation pagdating dun...he,he...pampalakas lang ng loob.

@ pachochay.....i might be living in hamilton ontario if hindi magmaterialize ung internal transfer sa company namin sa Saint John's Newfoundland....personally mas ok sa Calgary taxwise.....wala dun PST na 7%....5% lng ung total GST on goods unlike all the other provinces....12-13% GST lahat....sabi nila marami daw opportunities pero d ko naman naexperience kasi mag apply or tumingin ng ads nung nandun ako.... From Saudi...i took British Airways..which costed me $1,200.....roundtrip (toronto).....cheapest among the other airlines... guys....let's have faith in landing on a good job..... Thanks. Ganun din na-canvass asawa, BA ang cheapest so far. Ok naman yung flight at crew - how many hours inabot? Waiting for MR pa lang flight na ang tinatanong, sobrang advance...he.,he. Goodluck sayo, sana nga mag-materialize yung internal transfer pra d k na mahirapan hanap work dun. Yup, in terms of tax mas ok Alberta.Pati health care at the onset kc la waiting time unlike other provinces, covered ka agad.
