Hello friends,

I sent in a FSW application on November 14th 2008 to Buffalo consulate and received AOR on March 18th 2009. No activity after that. Yesterday (October 27th 2009), I received an email saying that my application was being transferred to DETROIT consulate to expidite processing. The email said an officer would go through my application and determine whether a visa interview was necessary or not. Anyone in the same boat?

Does that mean I have cleared the initial eligibility (my occupation is in the 38) and now need to wait either for an interview or medicals?

I got married after I submitted my application and need to add my spouse to my application. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Do I need to send her whole application package (complete with documents and PCC) to Detroit consulate?

Any inputs are appreciated.

Thanks!

My guess is that the workload in Buffalo is HUGE, so they are transferring cases that were submitted before Nov. 2008 to other offices in order to expedite the whole process. After Nov. 2008, new regulations came into play. Now with regards to your spouse, yes you need to update your file and include her as well. That needs to be sent to Detroit now.

The email I received said that I should not enquire anything about the status of my application for the next 90 days. So I'm hoping that there might be some development in the next 3 months. Maybe its just wishful thinking on my part!!!!!!

Hi friends,

My file reached buffalo on 13th Nov,08. My AOR date is 18th Mar, 09. On 27th Oct,09 I got an email saying that my file has been transferred to Detroit office to expedite the process.
I studied in Canada for 1 year.Currently I have LMO approved work permit. If anyone of you hear something soon from Detroit please share..I hope Detroit is faster than the Buffalo office.

I had sent an email to Detroit consulate immediately after I received the email from Buffalo about my file transfer to Detroit. Detroit said that it has not yet received the file and told me to send an email again after 5 weeks. I guess it will be some time before they enter the complete information in their database and then start processing it.
