I have question and was wondering what other thoughts on this might be.

I sponsored my husband from Egypt in family category.  He received an email today saying our file has been sent to Ottawa for processing.  I thought files processed in Ottawa were appeals?  We have not had any decision made yet so I'm wondering why it would be sent there instead of staying in Cairo?

Any thoughts?

Hey,
So I don't know about cairo, but recently files which their visa office was damascus have been transferred to ottawa too instead of damascus. and in the letter it was stated that "due to the recent situation in syria".

The same thing happen to us me and my wife. they said it is because the situation in Cairo. DID you hear back from them yet ? they told me they will get back to me shortly but i Have not heared back from them .

The only thing we heard or even knew the file went to ottawa was an email we received telling us it went to ottawa.  Since then, there is no news on our file.  We still have a few months before we hit the one year mark.

When did you submit your file pla?

We submitted on Feb 2011. Three of my friends  took them only 6 to 9 months for their applications o be done. Did they received your medical exam results .?

I'm sending my application to Beirut/ Damascus for processing...I kind of hope they send it to Ottawa that way it may be processed faster?? Any experiences for anyone in this situation? Do you guys believe it will speed up processing time considering the situation in SYria??

Yes they received our medical results. They were done just before we submitted our application.
