Some file numbers start with an F other start with a B. I think the only difference is that one is the electronic file number.

Mine was an F too so don't worry.

I am confuse Suva. Who is the sponsor you or your wife. I sponsored my wife i received just client no from CIC-M. as i know when Singapore Vo receive PR application then they create F file no ( B or F is same). I get my wife file no from Singapore Vo when i send e-mail to them. They also told me
Quote
Please be advised that we do not acknowledge receipt of permanent resident applications
normally on AOR letter file no shows.

When i log with my client no ( using my name and db) i can see two parts me and my wife side .When i log with my wife file no i can see only her part and her address.

B no they used when they receive PR application before March 2010. B or F is same .If you are permanent resident you can find you client and F no back of your card. Client no or F no will never change even you are became citizen. I have same old client no and File no when i became permanent resident.

Ask her to log with Receipt No using her information. or her client no to see what shows. If she has her PR card she can find Client no back of PR card .

on the letter it was written that she got approved as a sponsor and the file had been tranferred. it also gives the UCI and application no. on it. with the UCI she gets her PR card renewal application information and with the file number my name, address and PR application received 20th july 2011 can be seen. very confusing

No need to worry. Many people have files starting with F (myself included). Others have the B file numbers. I've seen cases where some people have BOTH and F and B file numbers, and some who have an F that changes to a B (or vice versa). Just another fabulous inconsistency courtesy of Immigration Canada!  Roll Eyes

In my case, I only have the F number, and my application is now *in process*. Everything should be fine for you, too.  Smiley
