I just had a quick query. My partner and I are in the process of filling out our applications for permanent residence to Canada BC. However, the more reading we do, the more confused we become. Therefore, we are writing this to see if anyone who is applying from the UK can clarify a few point for us.

As far as we initially understood we needed to complete the following applications for Federal Skilled Workers visa (See below, is that right?)
  • APPLICATION FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCE IN CANADA
  • BACKGROUND DECLARATION
  • ECONOMIC CLASSES – FEDERAL SKILLED WORKERS
  • ADDITIONAL FAMILY INFORMATION

The thing we are most confused about is, do we, a) send the forms off with the processing fee and wait to hear from the visa office if we fulfill criteria for our applications to be processed, thus they want us to send the full documentation with the application fee for permanent residence. Or do we b) send the application forms, supporting documents and processing and application fees off at the same time?

From our reading it was not clear which way we go, so any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

You should read all instructions and guides here,

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-how.asp.

You need to send first your application with appropriate fees to Central Intake Office Sydney, they evaluate your eligibility under your claimed profession. If you approved, they will send you information and give you a time period of 120 days for submit full application , with all your supporting documents and etc.

to anyone who just filed their initial application to CIO...note that they are rejecting the whole application if you accidentally put Sydney Nova Scotia in the VISA OFFICE REQUESTED for the process of your application...(IMM 0008)

my friend just received her rejection letter after 60 days saying that

"You did nto indicate the visa office requested for the process of your application. Please note Sydney CIO is not a valid selection"

I am just blessed that my application proceeded when i submitted it last May though it contains "Sydney Nova Scotia" in the visa office requested tab..

i told my friend to resubmit everything again to CIO and just change that tab to "Manila, Philippines"

Thanks...
